Meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia
On December 5, 2024, Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Ms. Tanja Fajon, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, on the sidelines of the 31st meeting of the Council of Ministers of the OSCE.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, as well as issues on the regional and international agenda.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations with Slovenia, based on friendship, mutual respect, and beneficial cooperation. He highlighted that reciprocal visits and ongoing political dialogue are important for further development of ties between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani side noted that there are significant opportunities for cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, and energy, particularly in the field of "green energy."
The Slovenian side was informed about Azerbaijan’s role in hosting and chairing the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) as well as the outcomes of the session. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan would continue to contribute to international efforts to combat climate change and remains open to further cooperation on this matter.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also updated his counterpart about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works in the territories liberated from the occupation, as well as the latest developments in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
The two ministers also exchanged views on topics of mutual interest to both countries.
